NDIS Hydrotherapy - Water-Based Therapy

Hydrotherapy, or aquatic physiotherapy is a cornerstone of our rehabilitation approach. Our hydrotherapy sessions utilise the therapeutic properties of water to aid in recovery, reduce pain, and improve movement. Under the guidance of our experienced therapists, hydrotherapy offers a gentle yet effective method for strengthening muscles and enhancing mobility.

Exercise-Based Treatment Programs

We believe in the power of targeted exercises to promote rehabilitation and functional improvement. Our customised exercise programs are designed to suit diverse needs, focusing on strengthening, flexibility, balance, and pain management. These tailored NDIS physiotherapy services empower individuals to achieve their rehabilitation goals and enhance their quality of life.

Stroke Rehabilitation

Stroke rehabilitation requires specialised care and attention. Our team comprises skilled physiotherapists with expertise in stroke recovery. We employ evidence-based techniques to address motor impairments, balance issues, and overall functional limitations post-stroke, aiding in the journey towards maximum independence and recovery.

Tailored Care for Chronic Conditions

Our approach to physiotherapy encompasses a broad spectrum of chronic illnesses, including but not limited to neurological conditions (such as multiple sclerosis Parkinson's disease), autoimmune disorders, chronic pain syndromes, musculoskeletal conditions, and cardiovascular diseases. We understand that each condition requires a tailored approach, and our skilled physiotherapists design individualised treatment plans based on the specific needs and challenges associated with these chronic illnesses.

Eligibility and NDIS Alignment

To access our NDIS physiotherapy services, participants must meet eligibility criteria, including age, residency and disability requirements. Our team can guide you through the process, ensuring that your needs align with NDIS guidelines and funding criteria:

  • Age — You must be aged between nine and 65. Children under nine can access support through the NDIS early childhood approach.
  • Residency — You must live in Australia and be an Australian citizen, Permanent Visa holder or Protected Special Category Visa holder.
  • Disability — You need a permanent impairment (physical, sensory, cognitive or psychosocial) that impacts your daily activities.

If you're unsure about eligibility or need help with the process, our friendly team can guide you through the process.

Ongoing Progress Monitoring

Our NDIS physiotherapy services include regular assessments to monitor progress and adapt treatment plans as needed. We provide detailed reports and updates to participants, families and support coordinators to ensure transparency and alignment with NDIS requirements.

Family and Caregiver Involvement

We recognise the vital role families and caregivers play in supporting participants' rehabilitation journeys. Our physiotherapy programs include education and guidance for caregivers to help them understand and contribute to ongoing therapy, creating a collaborative approach for sustained progress.

We also cater to a wide range of appointments, including NDIS, Medicare, DVA, WorkCover and Aged Care, ensuring accessible and comprehensive care for all.

Frequently Asked Questions

What doesn't the NDIS pay for?

The NDIS does not pay for services or items that fall outside the scope of disability support. This includes costs covered by other systems such as healthcare, general living expenses like rent or groceries and items unrelated to a participant's disability needs. Additionally, the NDIS will not fund supports that pose a risk of harm, are considered unlawful or constitute day-to-day living costs not linked to a disability

Can I claim my physio on Medicare?
Physiotherapy may be claimable under Medicare through the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, which allows individuals with chronic or complex conditions to access up to five allied health services per year, including physiotherapy. A GP referral is required for this program, and you should consult with your doctor to confirm eligibility. Similarly, physiotherapy can also be accessed through a care plan designed by your GP for managing ongoing conditions.
Will NDIS pay for massage?

The NDIS may pay for massage therapy if it is deemed reasonable and necessary to support a participant's disability-related needs. It must contribute to achieving goals outlined in the participant's plan for NDIS physiotherapy services, such as improving mobility or reducing pain.

However, with the introduction of updated guidelines in 2024, some therapies with insufficient evidence may no longer be covered. Chiropractic care follows similar criteria; it must be included in an NDIS plan and directly linked to disability needs to qualify for funding.

When does the NDIS cover physiotherapy?
The NDIS covers physiotherapy when it is deemed necessary to support functional improvement or maintain mobility, particularly if it enables participants to live independently or achieve specific goals. NDIS funding also covers a range of other supports, such as assistive technology, home modifications, therapeutic supports and capacity-building services, all tailored to individual needs. Exercise physiology may also be included under therapeutic support when it contributes to the participant's plan outcomes.
Can you have an NDIS and a Home Care Package?
If you start receiving a Home Care Package (HCP) permanently for the first time after turning 65, you must leave the NDIS. This is automatic and cannot be reviewed, as the law requires people over 65 to access aged care services like HCPs instead of the NDIS.
Does NDIS cover family therapy?
The NDIS does not directly cover family therapy unless it serves a therapeutic purpose directly related to a participant's disability. NDIS physiotherapy services for families, however, may include capacity-building activities to better assist their loved ones. Therapy assistants are categorised into levels based on their qualifications and the complexity of the tasks they handle, with Level 1 assistants providing general support and Level 2 assistants handling more complex therapy activities under supervision.
What disabilities are not covered by the NDIS?
Not all disabilities are covered by the NDIS. To qualify, a disability must result from a permanent impairment that substantially reduces functional capacity and requires ongoing support. Disabilities without significant functional impact or those that can be managed through mainstream services may not meet eligibility criteria. Always consult the NDIS guidelines or speak with a local coordinator for specific clarifications.
