NDIS Exercise Physiology

.Exercise physiology services can play an important role in helping NDIS participants improve their strength, mobility, fitness, independence and overall quality of life. At Phoenix, we provide individualised exercise programs tailored to each participant’s goals, abilities and support needs. Services can be delivered at home, in the community or through hydrotherapy-based programs.

What Is Exercise Physiology?

Exercise physiology involves the prescription and delivery of evidence-based exercise programs designed to improve physical function, health and wellbeing. Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) work with individuals living with disability, neurological conditions, chronic health conditions and mobility limitations to help improve functional capacity and participation in daily life.

How Exercise Physiology Helps NDIS Participants

These services assist participants experiencing reduced mobility, balance impairments, weakness, de-conditioning, chronic pain, neurological conditions or reduced confidence with movement. Exercise programs are tailored to the individual and may focus on improving strength, balance, endurance, walking ability, coordination, flexibility and overall physical function.

Participants living with the following conditions may benefit from structured exercise support, including cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, multiple sclerosis and other neurological or chronic health conditions.

    Mobile Exercise Physiology

Phoenix offers mobile exercise-based services to support participants across Gregory Hills and surrounding areas. Mobile services may be suitable for participants who have difficulty travelling, require support within their home environment or benefit from community-based exercise programs.

    Individualised Exercise Programs

No two participants are the same. Exercise physiology programs are designed around each participant’s specific goals, current function and support requirements. Programs may focus on improving independence with daily activities, increasing confidence with mobility, reducing falls risk, improving cardiovascular fitness, supporting weight management or enhancing participation in social and community activities.

Programs are progressed gradually and monitored closely to ensure exercises remain safe, achievable and appropriate.

    NDIS Funding for Exercise Physiology

Exercise physiology services may be funded under Capacity Building supports within an NDIS plan where they are considered reasonable and necessary in supporting a participant’s goals and functional capacity. Phoenix supports self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed participants.

How These Services Fit Within Allied Health Care

Exercise physiology may work alongside other allied health supports as part of a participant’s broader care team. These services commonly focus on structured exercise prescription, long-term physical conditioning, strength, mobility and overall physical function. Other allied health services may focus more heavily on assessment, rehabilitation, pain management and hands-on treatment, depending on the participant’s individual needs.
